Handled Carefully, Remembered Differently
A behind-the-scenes look at the projects our registrars still talk about.
Not every art loan story stays with you for the same reason. Sometimes it’s the packing process that keeps resurfacing. Sometimes it’s the installation itself. And sometimes it’s the experience of coordinating a grouping of artworks—across institutions, timelines, and a hundred moving parts—that reminds you why you started working in this industry in the first place.
In this series, we’re asking our registrars to look back at their experiences with the Art Bridges Partner Loan Network—our art-sharing initiative that helps museums move works out of storage and into communities across the country—and share the projects that stayed with them long after the crates were sealed shut.
Follow along as each story opens a window into the planning, problem-solving, collaboration, and occasional curveballs behind how these works travel from one institution to another!
